Connect your first account

This article walks you through linking your first financial institution to Luminy, what happens during the connection, and what to expect once your accounts start syncing. It is written for new users connecting an institution for the first time.

Before you begin

Make sure you have the following ready:

  • A Luminy account. If you don’t have one yet, see What you need to get started.
  • The username and password you use to sign in to your bank or institution.
  • Access to your phone or email in case your institution asks to verify it’s you.

Link your institution

Linking your first institution takes a few minutes:

  1. Open Luminy and sign in.
  2. Select Add Account.
  3. Choose your institution from the list.
  4. Sign in securely through Plaid. Luminy never sees or stores your bank credentials.
  5. If your institution asks, complete its verification step (a code by text or email, or an approval in its own app).
  6. Select the accounts you want to link - checking, savings, credit cards, loans, or investments.
  7. Return to Luminy. Your balances and transactions will appear shortly.

What to expect after linking

  • Balances usually appear within a minute or two.
  • Accounts refresh automatically - you don’t need to reconnect them each time you open the app.
  • You can link as many institutions as you like by repeating the same steps, and disconnect any account from the app whenever you want.

Troubleshooting

  • If your institution is not listed, use Suggestions in the footer to let us know. We review requests regularly.
  • If a connection fails, confirm your credentials work by signing in on your institution’s own website or app first, then try again.
  • If a linked account stops updating, reconnect it from the app. Institutions occasionally require you to sign in again.
